03.22.2009

Dear Telugu People,

We are all sorry to hear the tragic news of four Telugu students died in car accident. The accident happened at 1:45 a.m. Saturday in the west St. Louis County town of Des Perese. Off-duty suburban St. Louis police officer Chrissy L. Miller, who is an officer with the Sunset Hills Police Department, MO, was driving in the wrong lane when her 2001 Mitsubishi struck a 1999 Honda with five telugu students inside. Investigators believe that officer Chrissy L. Miller was drunk at the time of accident.

Everyone in the Honda except the driver was killed instantly. Three of the victims were from Charleston, Ill.: 23-year-old Anusha Anumolu, 23-year-old Anita Lakshmi and 22-year-old Prya Muppvarapu. The other, 25-year-old Satya Chinta, was from Aurora, Ill.

The Honda driver, 27-year-old Nitesh Adusumilli of Ballwin, Mo., was hospitalized at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis County. Initially critical, his condition was upgraded later Saturday to fair.

There are no words to adequately express our sympathy for the devastation and profound loss to victims' families. Our Telugu community hasn’t experienced accident of this magnitude in the past. Hence your help is required financially to send these bodies to India for their loved ones for last rituals.

It may take anywhere from $50,000 to $70,000. Our President Mudiganti Jithendar Reddy gaaru donating $1000. Please contribute whatever you can.
