Seva Days benefit thousands as part of ATA Vedukalu in India

Thousands benefit from ATA Vedukalu Seva Days

1. As planned Vedukalu started on Dec 10 in Karimnagar after initial press conferences in HYD. Health camp was conducted in Kava Srirampur mandal Govt hospital with the theme "prevention is better than cure". It included Eye check up with free glasses and surgery. Cervical cancer screening. cardiology/ortho/Rehab/dental and gen physicians were available. Free medicines were distributed. About 40 health volunteers participated in the camp. Followed by program at Gangaram Village High school after the prayers at the village temple. Focus was-- school development program.ATA is donating a library room to the school. Funds were solicited and will be donated through ATA. And also message was sent that villagers and others can continue to provide additional facilities and can take part in such activities along with ATA. In the afternoon an interactive Education Abroad seminar was conducted by our ATA team in Karimnagar Town which was attended by college students along with some parents and was followed by cultural program with the main focus on rural Art and culture. Karimnagar history was depicted in the form of dance and prominent personalities from the region were honored. The days Theme was Health, Child Education, Education abroad, and promoting/preserving rural Art and culture. The programs were held in A village, Mandal and Dist. head quarters on the same day. We have seen an over whelming response and cooperation from villagers, students, parents, artists, and govt officials for the above programs.

2. Immediately the following Day on Dec 11, There was a 5 K run at Ring Road. The theme was a. Child Nutrition, Traffic Safety, Pollution control. It was very impressive to see on a beautiful day thousands of participants mostly the college students wearing the ATA logo in front of T shirt and promoting the theme in the back. They danced for the tunes entertaining every one before the start of the run. it is interesting that for some reason there were more girls than boys participants. Multiple dignitaries participated in the run and helped in conveying the message.

3. On the same night Dec 11, The ATA team left to Mylavaram and was received by Dr. Hanmi Reddy family early morning and followed by an excellent hospitality throughout the day. ATA team participated in the donations to the poor and visited the free eye camp. Toured the college being constructed and in near completion, which was funded by Dr Hanmi Reddy garu through ATA foundation and later addressed the audience. ATA team was grateful for Lakireddy family as they gave opportunity to be part of sports inaugural at one of the state of the art stadiums at Mylavaram donated by them to AP govt, Had a tour of Engineering college and Later Education abroad seminar was held at the college which was packed by the 4th year students. followed by agricultural seminar hosted by ATA and conducted by Agric professors, It was amazing to see how much the farmers involved in the seminar with nonstop questions. finally the day ended with unveiling of stones of 1. Lakireddy family Historyand 2. Lakireddy family thanking ATA.

4. On Dec 15, in the afternoon education abroad/women’s forum seminar was held at central court hotel. which was attended by Vice consul at US consulate HYD and reps from Chennai and New Delhi. Seminar included even a mock interview of a student by vice consul, who is from Wisconsin and speaks and wrights in Telugu As there were so many marital issues of recent immigrants in US recently, for the surprise of every one, many parents with the children along with their lawyers attended the women’s forum and had interactive sessions to enquire about martial law in US vs. India. It seems to be a current burning social issue. Local law authorities also participated in the open discussion As the seminars are first of a kind in India, there was lot of curiosity and overwhelming response and appreciation pm many people.

5. The grand finale took place at Ravindra Bharathi in the evening with colorful cultural programs and musical extravaganza in the presence of all walks of life especially from the whole state and other parts of the world. Started with Toli Paluku from Dr.C Narayan Reddy Garu, In addition to the dance performances one of the highlights was a drama by two physicians who acted as villagers and discussed among themselves about what is ATA and what was the purpose of ATA Vedukalu in lay mans terms and brought up all the above activities ATA did in their discussion. Those who were distinguished in language and Art/culture were honored on the stage. 6.All the above programs were inaugurated/attended by present and past State ministers, MP's, MLA's, MLC's, Executives, Govt officials, dignitaries and many more including ATA well wishers. Many of the sponsors came forward to sponsor the events, and many ATA well wishers kept the tradition and hosted the ATA team and others on multiple occasions. It was nice of Padmaja Reddy garu garu for allowing the ATA team to utilize the premises of Central court Hotel for their meetings.
