ATA Women's Day - Raleigh : March 22nd 2015

American Telugu Association (ATA) celebrated International Women's Day in Raleigh, NC on March 22, 2015. Madhu Bommineni, ATA Secretary welcomed the guests and speakers to the event and gave a brief history of Women's Day celebration.  Over 100 women attended the informal event and enjoyed the lunch provided by Spice & Curry. The program started with prayer by Sarswati Komaragiri and continued with performances by Shriya Komaragiri, Padutha Theeyaga contestant and Sujana.

All speakers gave insightful speeches and presentations.  Mrs. Margaret Broadwell, Ex Mayor of Morrisville talked about Women in politics and challenges faced by women in all fields. 

Dr.Vandana Devalapalli, MD, and Subhashini Sharma, PT gave interactive presentations and conducted Q & A session about Women's Health and importance of being active and well being in general. These topics were well received by the audience asking more questions.

Dr. Radhika Kulkarni, Vice President of Operations Research, SAS speech about Women's empowerment was inspiration to all. Audience left the event feeling positive of and requesting for more of these programs. Organizers received great feedback about the event, as it is the first time a program is oriented towards Women. Renuka Reddy brought the audience to their feet as an MC and with her spontaneous singing. 

The event was coordinated by Sai Sudhini, Regional Coordinator, Venkat Yetukuri, Standing Committee Chair and Madhu Bommineni, Secretary with the help of Pavan Nomula, Kishore Devineni, Rajendra Simhadri, Radhesh Gurrala, Ajay Maddi, Andy Akula, Imran Sharif, Venkat Reddy Bommareddy, Srinivas Reddy Gurrala, Govardhan Reddy, Bharathi Venkannagari, Kanthi Yedavalli, Vidya Aravapalli, Praveen Komaragiri, Swapna Anchuri, Kavitha Vavilala and many other volunteers. Program was concluded with vote of thanks to all the volunteers, speakers, and attendees.
