ATA Women's Day - Delaware Valley : Mar 21st, 2015

American Telugu Association (ATA) Delaware valley chapter celebrated International Women’s Day on Saturday March 21, 2015 at Bharatiya Temple in Chalfont, Pennsylvania. ATA’s Regional coordinator, Neeraja Reddy welcomed 150 women to the celebration.

This successful event was geared towards honoring a day dedicated to women and what they have persevered through and accomplished in history. Women from the Delaware valley region gathered to celebrate individual achievements as well as group success.

The celebrations started with a candle lighting ceremony followed by a Welcome speech by the host, Neeraja Reddy. The first guest speaker Dr. Meeta Kumar, a psychologist working at the University of Pennsylvania, gave a powerful presentation about raising millennial children. She inspired the guests with her knowledge and advice about raising children experiencing two different cultures. The second guest speaker Dr. Sunitha Siddapureddy, a podiatrist at Doylestown Hospital, gave a informative presentation on heart health for women. She taught women about heart health and encouraged women to lead a healthy lifestyle. Both guest speakers provided women with valuable information.

Nardhana academy school of dance performed the Ramayan epic using the classical art of Bharat natyam. The show was rich in culture and tradition. Next was the highly anticipated event of the evening, the fashion show. However, it was a fashion show with a twist. This event featured mothers proudly showcasing their daughters while walking the ramp together. Mothers and daughters were able to spend quality time bonding and preparing for the show. Additionally, talented young kids performed Kuchipudi and folk dances. 

The MC’s of the event, Shirisha Kanthala , Madhavi  Srikoti, Lahari Madulapally, and Laya Madulapally thrilled the audience with amusing party games. They kept the event organized and exciting.

 Neeraja Reddy thanked all donors, invitees, sponsors for their support.
